We just love Za'atar!

What brought us here?

The traditional za'atar mix we prepare is very common in the Middle East. In the United States za'atar is only known as a spice, not a spread. We want to bring something new to the table with our za'atar spread. Something that is yummy, fun, and easy to prepare! Zesty Thymes Za'atar Spread is something you can put alongside your jelly jars in your pantry, but gives you endless opportunities for new recipes.

Whats our mission?

We want to introduce a new and easy way to enjoy our product to all you za'atar fans out there. We also want to give those who haven't heard of za'atar a chance to try something new in a traditional way with little to no mess.

How do we prepare it?

Our Za'atar spread is prepared by taking the perfect amount of the za'atar spice and mixing it the the best 100% Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil.. We source our Za'atar from a Middle Eastern distributer which contains a carefully crafted blend of thyme, sumac and roasted sesame seeds.

THE VEGAN FACTOR

Za'atar is now widely available in Levant countries where it grows naturally. It thrives in full sun conditions and well-drained soil so is harvested during the summer months. The short shrub grows to approximately 40 cm high and can be characterized by its small cottony, green-grey leaves and strong, spicy aroma.

The za'atar herb is hard to source and comes in a variety of grades and freshness. Harvesting of higher quality za'atar begins with washing it in water to clean the velvety leaves of accumulated soil dust. The herb is then left to dry outdoors for a few days before being mixed.
